List of OPM Pay Localities
The United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) defines a list of General Schedule locality pay areas, which are regions of the United States in which the OPM has determined that the cost of living is high enough that Federal employees living and working within these localities should receive an additional cost of living adjustment (COLA) on top of their General Schedule base pay rate.
As of 2024, there are a total of 58 localities defined by the OPM. Some of these localities comprise of a single city, while others include areas spread across multiple states. For federal employees who work in an area not within one of the 57 specific locality pay areas, the catch-all pay locality Rest of United States applies.
This table lists all of the OPM's 2024 locality pay areas, along with the percentage increase in pay associated with each locality. Historical locality data is also available for past years back to 2007. Click on any locality name to view the current locality-adjusted General Schedule payscale for that area.
