General Schedule Pay Raises, 2008 - 2024
At the end of every year the Federal Government determines if, and by how much, the General Schedule's base pay tables will be increased across-the-board. Raise amounts are calculated based on inflation and increased cost of living, comparable private sector salary changes, as well as the fiscal state of the government (which accounts for the three years of frozen pay from 2011 - 2013).
Pay raises are generally approved in the last quarter of each year, and go into effect the following January. These across-the-board raises only affect base pay rates, and the locality adjustment percentages are often changed yearly at the same time. Read more about how raises are set each year and when raises go into effect.
This table lists the yearly across-the-board General Schedule base pay raises since 2008. You can also calculate the applicable raises for any paygrade by using our powerful General Schedule Pay Calculator.
